A summer solstice gathering around the fire at My Little Farm

Litha Β· The Summer Solstice

Litha at My Little Farm.

  • Saturday 20 June
  • 10am – 10pm
  • Streat, East Sussex

The summer solstice marks the height of the sun's power and the longest days of the year β€” a day to gather around the fire, honour the abundance of summer, and embrace the turning of the seasons.

about the day

The longest day, marked together.

The summer solstice marks the height of the sun's power and the longest days of the year. We gather to celebrate with a bonfire, St. John's Wort oil making, and flower crown weaving.

In the evening, we share a communal outdoor banquet, closing the night with a gratitude circle around the fire. It's a time to honour the abundance of summer and embrace the turning of the seasons.

what to expect

From fire to flower crowns.

  • Lighting the Solstice fire and dancing to live music
  • Weaving headdresses and making masks by hand
  • A shared open-air lunch
  • Planting with the MLF growers
  • Learning a new smallholding skill
  • Breathing in a wellbeing workshop
  • Closing with a fire ceremony as the sun lowers

Children are invited to dress up in their finest Green Man and Green Woman outfits β€” grown-ups too.

Bring a blanket to sit on, a drum or instrument if you have one, and a heart ready for the growth and expansion of summer.
