volunteer weekends
Come and help us build it.
This July we come together for a working weekend, Friday to Sunday, to push the farm forward. Expect real graft, good company, and plenty of laughter along the way. Join us for a day or the whole weekend, and sit down to a proper meal at the end of a good day's work.
Book your placeOur next working weekend is this July. Roll up your sleeves and help us make real progress.
How the weekend runs.
Come for a day or the whole weekend. However long you're here, we get properly stuck in together, and end each day with a shared meal and good company round the fire.
friday
Farming Friday
We work the land together the way we do every week, then roll into the weekend's projects. When the tools are down, we pitch the tents and gather round the fire as the light goes.
saturday
The big push
Our busiest day. The shop is open and the farm is alive, so we get the main work done together, side by side, and light the sauna once the day is done.
sunday
Finishing strong
We rally to get the last jobs over the line, share a final meal together, and head home having left the place better than we found it.
What we'll be turning our hands to.
A handful of real projects need finishing across the farm this July. You do not need to know one end of a drill from the other, just come ready to muck in where you're needed.
The members' barn
Our big build of the summer: turning a bare barn into a proper members' space, with power and light, water and a kitchen, two windows onto the fields, and somewhere to sit and work.
The farm shop
A move and a refresh: we level a new area, shift the shop across, paint the floor afresh, replant the planters, and set the seating right for a coffee in the sun.
The sauna corner
A little breathing room: we tidy the whole corner, move the sauna to open up the path, and build a simple gas-fired shower alongside it, ready for a Saturday evening.
The wider farm
The steady work that keeps a farm going: the tool barn tidied, the polytunnels down, the chicken run readied for winter, a new gate hung, and the hedges cut back across the land.
Hands we'd especially love.
Everyone is welcome, whatever you can do. But if you carry one of these trades, you would make a real difference to what we can finish this July.
Electricians
Power and lighting for the members' barn.
Plumbers
Water and drainage to the new sink, and the sauna shower.
Carpenters and joiners
Seating, working space, and the kitchen fit.
Window and glazing fitters
Setting the two new windows into the barn wall.
Landscapers and groundworkers
Levelling, paths, and the ground around the barn and shop.
Painters and decorators
The shop floor and finishing touches throughout.
Metalworkers and fencers
Clearing the chicken area, gates and wire, and the south gate.
Signwriters and makers
Guiding people up to the barn, and marking out the forest garden.
And if you have no trade at all, willing hands are just as valuable. Most of a farm is built by ordinary people, together.
At the end of the day.
A place to camp
Pitch up on the farm for the weekend, free of charge, and wake to the fields.
A proper meal, together
A hearty meal at the end of each working day, cooked from the farm and shared as one.
The sauna, and good company
The sauna lit on Saturday once the tools are down, and the people who make this place what it is.

Good to know.
Do I need to come for the whole weekend?
No. Come for a day or the whole weekend. However long you're with us, come ready to get properly stuck in.
Is camping really free?
Yes. Pitch up on the farm for the weekend at no charge. Book so we know to expect you and can plan the space.
Is food provided?
Yes. We share a hearty meal together at the end of each working day, cooked from the farm.
Can I bring my family?
Families are very welcome. There is plenty to do, and the farm is a wonderful place for children.
Do I need experience or tools?
No experience needed. We provide gloves, tools and guidance. If you have tools of your own trade, bring them along.
What about certified work like electrics and gas?
Notifiable electrical and gas work is planned and signed off properly by qualified people. Volunteer hands support that work, they don't replace it.
I have questions, who do I contact?
Email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.
