Come and take your first steps on the farm you're helping to hold.
These are our first permanent steps onto the land at Peppers, and we want to take them together. Come and walk the estate with us, then gather in the stables for hot drinks and something warm to eat, while we explore the plans for the farm side by side.

This is a day for the Smallholders who've stepped in to help hold Peppers. Our first permanent steps onto the land, taken together, as it begins to become ours.
Come and stand on the ground you're helping to secure, meet the others stepping in beside you, and let the place speak.
The afternoon.
A few hours that move at the pace of a farm rather than the pace of a meeting.

What the day holds.
A first, unhurried afternoon on the land, shaped for belonging rather than briefing.
A walk of the land, together
Pasture managed for thirty-five years without harm, an ancient deciduous wood, mature hedgerows, the orchard, and the lake, all walked at a gentle pace.
Warmth in the stables
Hot drinks and something warm to eat once we're back from the walk, out of the wind, the fire lit, a moment to settle.
The plans for the farm
Where the market garden and the gathering spaces will sit, what we'll grow and raise, what stays working land and what becomes sanctuary, and a chance to shape it.
Your fellow founders
The people stepping onto this land beside you. The beginning of a community that will hold Peppers together for generations.
Who it's for.
This day is for our Smallholders and founding members, the people who've stepped in to help secure Peppers and hold it for the generations who follow. Bring your family, children and all. And if you have friends who you think would love what we're building, bring them too. The next cohort of Smallholder places is opening, and there's no better way to feel whether it's for them than an unhurried afternoon on the land. There's nothing to decide and nothing to sign. It's simply the first of many days we'll share on this land, and we'd love you there for the very first.
What to bring.
Warm, weather-ready clothes, with a layer for the wind off the Downs
Boots, sturdy enough for pasture and woodland
A refillable water bottle, we've got taps
Your ideas for the farm, the bigger the better
We'll provide hot drinks and something warm to eat in the stables when we're back from the walk. The estate is walked at a gentle pace.
Finding your way there.
- When: Saturday 10th October, from 1pm
- Where: Peppers Farm, Ashurst, West Sussex, BN44 3AX. Enter via the Yard & Hovel Entrance on Honeybridge Lane, open in maps
- Refreshments: hot drinks and something warm to eat, in the stables
- Parking: on site, you'll be directed on arrival
- Bring family and friends: children welcome, dogs on leads, and anyone you think would love what we're building
